NBA 2K21’s new $70 price point hasn’t stopped millions of people from buying Take-Two’s basketball title. Speaking to investors, the company’s CEO and chair Strauss Zelnick said that it had shipped 8 million copies of the game as of the end of December 2020. Take-Two previously said that it had sold in 5 million copies of NBA 2K21 for the previous quarter - following its September launch on PS4, Xbox One and Stadia - meaning that it shifted another 3 million in the last three months of 2020....

Sony is releasing a brand-new PS5 exclusive at the end of April, but you might not know about it. For whatever reason (probably because there’s no sign of a Nathan, Joel or Ellie) Housemarque’s super-looking Returnal has flown a little under the radar, which I find rather odd. The author of Holocaust novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas recently released his new book, A Traveller at the Gates of Wisdom. Like his previous novel, John Boyne explores human history through a fictional lens. The characters aren’t real, but the events they experience are. It’s the kind of work that has a lot of research behind it. In one passage, Boyne explains the dressmaking process, which requires a red dye....

Picking it up late in the game and defeating enemies with it drastically raises its damage cap, meaning that it can pack a serious punch if you’re clever with it. Aerondight is in Cyberpunk 2077. News of all games save for Wolfenstein Youngblood being taken off GeForce Now was announced on the service’s official forums (thanks, Gamasutra). Nvidia did not disclose the reason Bethesda opted to pull its games. Just yesterday, Nvidia announced over one million users signed up for its streaming platform and said that 1,500 games are coming to the service. Nvidia said in the announcement to expect companies to remove games before the current trial period ends; however, it believes games will be brought back once the value of the service is realized....

The second major summer update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons was detailed earlier this week. The patch brings firework shows, dreaming and an option to backup your island and save data. Now that the patch is live, Nintendo published the full change log. One thing the developer didn’t communicate ahead of time was a new feature added to the in-game camera app. Through a glitch, players were previously able to disable the game’s HUD when using the camera, but Nintendo patched it earlier this month....

Today, publisher EA and developer Respawn released a new Lore trailer featuring the next Legend to enter the Apex Games, Seer. The character bears a moth motif and seems to have some mysterious connection to the world of the Apex. “A bad omen cast a shadow over Obi’s birth: will his light survive and emerge from the darkness?” reads the blurb. Axiom Verge 2 from Thomas Happ Games will miss its 2020 release and arrive sometime during the first half of 2021. Announced during a Nintendo Indie World showcase last year, the game was originally slated to release on Nintendo Switch in fall 2020. According to a blog post from the developer, a “number of factors” led to the release schedule being pushed into next year. First up, the enemies are more sophisticated than those in the original game....

The new name was chosen, it seems, because “the smallest idea can change the world”, according to a press release from EA. Apparently, EA believes that “true transformation in the game industry begins with small moments, like an enlightening conversation in a hallway or a prototype yielding unexpected results.” The name change and new direction for DICE LA was announced last year, when Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella began overseeing the developer with the intent of turning it into something more than just a support studio....

Wolfenstein developer MachineGames is working on a project based on the Indiana Jones IP. The project was revealed in a teaser video on Twitter from the studio’s parent company Bethesda, who went on to say that the title is being made in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. That’s the new publishing banner that Disney revealed yesterday. Bethesda also said that Todd Howard is an executive producer on the title, but there’s not much other information about the project....
