The official Twitter account for The World Ends With You has revealed a new trailer, an original theme song, and a mood-setting new visual to promote the upcoming anime series, which will be worked on by Tetsuya Nomura, Takeharu Ishimoto, and other members of the original development team, too. Fans of the cult DS game will recognize Uzuki Yashiro, Koki Kariya, Yodai Higashizawa, Mitsuki Konishi, Sho Minamimoto, and Megumi Kitaniji in the art, and you’ll see familiar faces returning in the trailer – embedded below – too. We all know that a decent anime series is defined by its opening track, and to that end Square Enix and production studios Domerica and Shin-Ei Animation deliver. The opening track is called Teenage City Riot and is performed by ALI (which, amazingly, stands for Alien Liberty International). “As a band from Shibuya, we are honored to play a fanfare where it’s setting is based in Shibuya as the battlefield,” says Leo Imamura, vocalist in the band. “Please continue to check us out in 2021!” Here’s a synopsis for the anime series: If you’re hungry for more The World Ends With You news, don’t fret – at the time of writing, there are only a few hours left on a countdown on an official Square Enix site that promises to drop more news relating to the series when it expires.
